I needed to replace the Motherboard of a Lenovo Edge E531 laptop. We ordered a new motherboard (not from Lenovo) and i have it placed in the laptop. When I start up the laptop I get a couple warnings. One that says 'Machine Type and Serial Number Invalid' and 'Machine UUID invalid'. From all of the posts I have seen I need to get my hands on a Hardware Maintenance Disk.

HP and Fujitsu have similar utilities. In most cases you have to be an authorized technician to be able to get the software. Sometimes you may luck out and find it online. Might be able to try a local Lenovo authorized repair shop and see if they would be willing to give you a copy of the software.
